Some bullets, providing the most basic insight into my current thoughts:
-
I booked a flight to Edinburgh! Lydia and I are going for the month of June. We’ll be staying with my Scottish surrogate parents (one set of them), and seeing Scotland and possibly some of England. Last night I could hardly sleep for excitement, and I’m not going for a while yet. I feels like I’m going home. It’s been a while.
-
I’m interviewing John Rosemond, national parenting expert, tomorrow afternoon, for an article to appear in a local magazine. I’m a little nervous, but I’m excited to develop my freelancing skills in this direction.
-
I’ve decided to join a small group in my church. For quite some time I’ve avoided it, claiming my busyness as an excuse, but I realize now that I need the community. And two Friday nights a month is such a small commitment for such a valuable return.

Speaking of church, last Friday night I spent time at the special needs ministry, where parents can drop off their special needs kids to play. The fellowship and love is absolutely precious. There’s nothing like getting a huge juicy kiss on the mouth from a two-year-old with Down Syndrome. It’s like a kiss from God.

School isn’t too bad these days. I’m just plugging away, doing my best. Speaking of which, I’ve got a study guide to write . . .
“Take this sinking boat and point it home;
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice; you have the choice
You’ve made it now . . . “
~Glen Hansard
I’m really glad you’re going to Scotland this summer. It makes me happy to see people who aren’t rolling in money but still make travel something important enough to happen. I hope to be that way someday, and until then, I’m very glad for you.
“It’s like a kiss from God”
this makes me really, really happy…
katie!! scotland!! that’s so exciting!!! hooray!! i’m happy for y’all…it’s so strange, y’know? where all of us are ‘ending up’…we’ll talk about that later i suppose…;)
anyway, i need to come over sometime, you still haven’t seen my haircut…;)
Another round in Scotland!!! It is so good that you value the people there enough to go back. It wasn’t just a one time shot with Europe and its’ people, like mine has turned out to be.
I love that you’re developing freelancing skills. Wouldn’t a side career in journalism be wonderfully rife with possibilities? Lord, our country needs some good journalists…
And small groups are an asset to anyone’s life, in my opinion. Keep it up. It takes a lot of work to get to know people that live a different context than you, but if you can break in, there is much to gain, besides just broadening your own context.

P.S. There’s some racy in “Peter’s Friends” – just a heads up. There’s a lot of sexuality going on in the house. Emma, even, though it doesn’t show her. There’s a part with her that I found hilarious, because her character is so naive that it made me laugh, but you know, not so appropriate. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
Hurray for Scotland! But even more Hurray for plugging away – for that is where the strength of your character shows
.
I love you. sj
