On a whim, some friends and I decided to go out tonight for Indian food. In addition to escaping the Monday blues, we had a wonderful experience at a little restaurant and grocery called Spice Avenue. We were the only ones in the place, for the most part, but we filled it with our laughter and enjoyment of good food. The owner, who explained the menu to us, brought us some flatbread with spicy sauce “on the house,” and we had some amazing samosas, naan, and curry. Yum.
I realized how wonderful it is to share a new experience of flavor and culture with good friends who all appreciate the experience. So we all decided to inaugurate a new tradition. Each Monday, we will visit a so-called “ethnic” restaurant, and thus broaden our palates to include tastes for the flavors of other countries. There are a good many of them around here, so we’ll have fun visiting them all. We’ll also get to meet people from around the world–we’d never meet them otherwise.
I’m excited! Hurrah for Ethnic Mondays!
I love that you’ve found a way to make the everyday something filled with excitement. Keep it up!
I’m been remiss at writting recently. Forgive me?
but I’m sure eventually I’ll drag them out to exciting places like ethnic mom and pop resturants. :-]
It makes such a difference when you have friends around that enjoy such things. My friends here are homebodies
